Privacy notice
ScreenRhythm is a Windows app that helps a parent and a child agree on screen time. This notice explains what data the app and the phone panel process, what stays on the PC, and how to contact us. It applies to the free plan and to Pro.
1. Who we are
ScreenRhythm is an independent product. The data controller is the developer of ScreenRhythm. For privacy questions, write to support@screenrhythm.com.
2. What we collect
- Parent contact email, if you write to support or request a licence.
- Device code and a hashed device token used by the parent panel.
- A hashed machine identifier (HWID) used to bind a Pro licence to one PC.
- Licence term, app version and the country/region needed for support and tax.
- Daily usage totals: seconds of computer time and the number of blocked requests.
- Feature flags and counters: which restrictions are enabled, how many times a parent added time or approved a request, which panel sections were opened.
- Payment data is processed by the payment provider. We receive the payment status, plan, amount and the contact details needed to issue a licence; we do not store full card numbers.
3. What stays on the PC
Application names and window titles stay on the computer. The phone panel receives total minutes and schedules. The server does not receive the names of applications, window titles, visited domains, page content, search history, messages, contacts or keystrokes. We do not take screenshots and we do not read messages.
4. Why we process it
To provide the time limits, schedule, site filter, parent panel and reports; to bind a licence to a device; to process payments and issue keys; to answer support requests; to keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
5. Where the data is stored
The ScreenRhythm relay is designed to run in the European Union (Amsterdam or Frankfurt) so that EU users' data stays in the EU. The app can work without the relay: the time limits and schedule are enforced on the PC. Data is not transferred to the separate Russian production relay used by another product.
6. Children's data and the agreement
The product is installed by a parent or legal guardian on a computer used by their child as a visible screen-time agreement. The parent gives consent for the child's usage data described above. The child sees the rules, the countdown and the tray icon, and can ask for more time. The product is not a hidden surveillance tool, and we do not create advertising profiles of children.
Reports on the phone are aggregate: total minutes by day and the schedule. Application names and window titles remain on the computer and are not part of the phone report.
7. Retention
We keep licence and usage data while the licence is active and for up to 12 months after the last activity, unless you ask us to delete it earlier. Payment records may be kept longer where tax or accounting law requires it. You can ask us to delete your data at any time; some records may be retained if the law requires it.
8. Your rights
You can ask for access, correction, deletion or a copy of your data, and you can object to processing. Write to support@screenrhythm.com. If you are in the EU, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Sharing
We use a hosting provider for the relay, a support mailbox and a payment provider. We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising. We share only what is needed to run the service, process a payment or answer a support request.
10. Changes
If this notice changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date. If the change is significant, we will also mention it in the app or by email to the parent address we have.
